Helping to provide access to everything…

for those with a visual impairment

ABOUT US.

vi-ac was born out of frustration.

Frustration with the world around us. Frustration that visually impaired people are still not always able to access everything independently. Realising that the solution is most often a simple one. Knowing that little changes will make a huge difference to the lives of those with a visual impairment.

This frustration changed into determination.  It is our aim to work alongside companies and organisations to ensure that their products and services are accessible for everyone. We use the experience we have gained from living with a visual impairment to improve access for all.

WHO WE ARE.

Andy Stokes

Founder of vi-ac

Hi, I’m Andy.

I was born with a congenital birth defect where my optic nerves didn’t form properly. This has meant that I have had to adapt how I do things as I have grown up.  I wanted to be and have the right to be independent.

I was born a Millennial and have grown up during an explosion of technology.  This has allowed me to go through mainstream education and university,  constantly adapting and enhancing my access to knowledge and the world around me as technology improved.  Wherever I went, from working, travelling to shopping I had to adjust – all of the time. This means that I am always exploring what’s next.  What new thing will make me more independent? I am constantly finding new ways of doing things.

It’s the skills, tips and tricks I have learnt along the way that I want to use now whether it be through a redesign, a new bit of tech, a new app or a new website. I want to help make a difference for others.
